When we say missions, we're talking about sharing the gospel in word and deed with our neighbor. A neighbor is anyone who needs compassion, whether they live next door or across the world.
When it comes to missions and what your involvement could look like, the best place to start is always to pray.
Pray to ask God to open your eyes and hearts to the opportunities that come your way each day. The best place to start is in your home with your family.
Another level of involvement after prayer as you look to get involved with missions could be to give, that is, contribute financially. Ministries and missionaries need financial gifts to help them fulfill the work to which God has called them.
At Mt Harmony, in addition to your faithful tithes and offerings, we take part in the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for national missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions. These specific offerings support SBC missionaries around the nation and world.
The third level of involvement in missions is for you to go. Jesus has commanded us to go. "As you are going...make disciples, teach, and baptize them."
Sometimes going leads you to go across the office or cafeteria, other times it sends you to go to another region or country.
Where you go is not as important as that you go.
As a church, we believe that our seating capacity is not as important as our sending capacity. So, go.
